From $389 · Battery backup · No call-out fee
Garage door opener installation in Bonita Beach starts at $389 for a belt-drive unit supplied, fitted, programmed and safety-tested — including the battery backup Florida has required on new residential openers since July 2020. That backup is not a box to tick here: it is what gets a car out of the garage when a storm takes the power out, which in Collier and Lee happens most summers.

An opener does far less work than people think. The springs counterbalance the door to near weightlessness; the opener only guides it and holds it closed. That is why the important decisions on a new install are noise, backup power and safety — not horsepower.
The two faults we are called back to fix on other people’s installs are safety eyes mounted too high, and force settings left on maximum so the door will close through anything. Both defeat the point of the safety system.
A working app pairing if you wanted one, two remotes and a keypad, the manual, and a door that reverses off a two-by-four on the floor while you watch.
Salt is the deciding factor on this side of the county. Airborne chloride does not attack the painted door skin first — it attacks the parts nobody looks at. The torsion shaft and the end bearings pick it up, the lift cables corrode from the inside of the strand outward, and the bottom two inches of the track and the track feet go first because that is where wind-blown water sits. A door in Bonita Beach that is groaning on the way up is usually telling you the bearings are dry and rusting, not that it needs oil. On coastal jobs we fit galvanised torsion hardware and stainless fixings as standard, because plain steel in Bonita Beach is a repeat visit waiting to happen.
Bonita is just over the county line in Lee County, which changes the paperwork: permits and inspections go through Lee County or the City of Bonita Springs rather than Collier, and the design wind speed is set separately. It also took the worst of the 2022 surge, so a lot of garages here have been rebuilt from the slab up and the door is the newest part of the house.
The housing here runs to 1970s and 1980s canal and beach homes with heavy rebuilding since Hurricane Ian, which means two-car doors on canal homes, elevated garages under stilt houses, and a large number of post-2022 replacements. That matters when someone quotes you a price over the phone without asking a single question about the door. In Bonita Beach Road, Barefoot Beach, Little Hickory, Bonita Shores, Bonita Springs and the Imperial River streets we have worked on enough of these openings to know what is behind the drywall before we arrive, which is why we can usually give you a firm number on the phone and stick to it.
Supplied, fitted, programmed and tested, with the old unit removed. No call-out fee and no charge for the quote.

Yes. Since July 2020, a newly installed residential garage door opener in Florida must have a battery backup so the door can still be opened during a power failure. Every opener we fit in Bonita Beach has it. Existing openers do not have to be retrofitted, but in a county that loses power in every serious storm it is the upgrade people are most glad they made.
Belt drive on anything attached to the house, and especially where there is a bedroom over the garage. It is markedly quieter than chain, it does not stretch, and the price difference is small. Chain drive is fine on a detached garage or a heavy commercial-weight door. Screw drive we rarely fit any more.
From $389 for a belt-drive opener with battery backup, supplied, fitted, programmed and tested, with the old unit taken away. Wi-Fi and camera models cost more and we will price those against what you actually want them to do. No call-out fee and no charge for the quote.
Two to three hours for a straight replacement. The old unit comes down, the rail and motor go up, the header bracket and safety eyes are set, the travel limits and force settings are learned against the real door weight, and the reversal is tested against a solid obstruction before we leave.
Almost always, but the door has to be balanced first. An opener is rated to guide a counterbalanced door, not to lift a heavy one. If your door is heavy by hand with the release cord pulled, the springs need doing before the new opener goes on — otherwise you will burn out the new unit the same way the old one went.
Usually not — rolling-code systems from different manufacturers do not talk to each other. New remotes come with the opener and we program them, plus a wall control and an outside keypad if you want one. We also wipe any old codes from memory, which is worth doing after a house purchase or a tenant change.
Yes. Most current openers offer app control, and some add a camera and package detection. They work well in Bonita Beach provided the garage has usable Wi-Fi at the ceiling — which in a block-construction house with the router at the far end is not a given. We will tell you honestly whether yours will hold a signal before you pay for the feature.
It is not optional and we test it on every install. Two photo eyes near the floor, aligned and showing steady lights, plus a force setting that makes the door reverse off a solid obstruction. That is the UL 325 requirement, and an opener that will not reverse is a hazard rather than an inconvenience.
You get the price before anyone drives out, and if you decide not to go ahead you owe us nothing.
